Originally composed by Dmitri Shostakovich for orchestra, Waltz No. 2 is one of the composer's most recognizable and beloved works. While the piece is frequently performed by orchestras around the world, there is no piano transcription by the composer.
Due to numerous requests from students and pianists who wanted to perform this beautiful waltz on piano, I created this original piano solo transcription. My arrangement captures the rich melodies, elegant dance character, and expressive atmosphere of the orchestral version while making it accessible and enjoyable for solo piano performance.
