My Story How Music Helped Me and My Students Connect and Thrive!

Some people speak best through music....I’ve always been one of them....

As a child, I was very quiet. I rarely spoke up. I followed the rules and never made a fuss. But the moment I was asked to sing, everything shifted.  I didn’t feel small or shy anymore. My voice was strong and confident. I felt free—like I was finally experiencing myself fully, without needing words. The language of music became the most natural way I could express myself authentically.

That’s when my musical journey began.

I was six when my grandmother gave me a real acoustic piano, and my parents enrolled me in music school. Even now, as an adult, I often feel more comfortable singing or playing than speaking.

Years later, in my 20's I moved to the U.S. I didn’t speak English. I was excited to start a new life, but honestly… it was hard. Every conversation felt like a struggle. Every attempt to connect felt like failure. I felt isolated. But when I was playing or singing, I felt an immediate connection. And for that, I didn’t need perfect grammar or pronunciation. Even with limited English, I became a Music Director, Choir Conductor, and Pianist at a local church. We even recorded a CD together with other musicians.

How did I do that without speaking fluent English?  Honestly… I still don’t know.

But I do know this:

Music breaks barriers and connects us deeply through its own language.

Now, as a teacher, I get to witness that same transformation in others. One of my students came to me shy and soft-spoken. She played piano very quietly. One day, I asked her to sing. She hesitated at first… but when she did, I was amazed. Her voice was incredible.

Later, that same student performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and Royal Festival Hall in London. Through training she found her unique musical language and stop holding back her talent.

That student—and many others—changed everything for me as a teacher.

They inspired me to go beyond traditional lessons and to blend piano and voice into one creative, expressive experience: a musical language that feels natural and joyful.
Maybe you’re like me—or like that student—and you’ve always felt a deep connection to music, wanting to explore your musical abilities more fully.
Or maybe you play piano and want to sing too - but it feels awkward.
Or maybe you're a singer who wants to confidently accompany yourself on piano, or a teacher ready to explore more creative, expressive ways to guide your students.

If any of this resonates with you, let's talk about clarifying your musical identity, embracing your skills, and forging a sustainable career business model centered around you.
